Let's design the makeup of ADAM

Adam was designed to have a spirit, soul and body.

In Genesis 2:7 when God formed Adam, the first of mankind, He breathed into Adam and he became a living soul. By breathing the very Spirit of God into the first Adam, he became filled with the fullness of the Spirit of God, what kind of spirit? God Himself gives that answer in Leviticus 19:2 when He says “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am Holy”. In John 4:24 Jesus says “God is Spirit”. Therefore God is a Holy Spirit.

Once the Spirit of God filled Adam, that single action activated his very soul and Adam became a “living soul” according to Genesis 2:7. The soul consist of our —

• Mind (intellect, your reasoning, logic, reasons, though),
• Will (your ability to make choices, resolve, and make decisions) and
• Emotions (your feelings, such as joy, happiness, sorrow, and desire)

From this we speak of a person's —

• Intellectual intelligence
• Emotional intelligence
• Spiritual intelligence

Love Him with everything you are made of

From the above scripture it is clear that mankind, the original Adam was designed to love the Lord our God with our spirit (heart), soul (soul, mind) and body (strength).

Why is this so important? Because Adam was the only part of God's creation in Genesis 1 that was created in the image and likeness of God Himself. No other living creature has that honor. Only mankind. In Genesis 1:26 God expresses His desire when He says “Let us make mankind in our image and our likeness”. God always speaks in the completed sense. He expresses the desire to make a living creature that would carry has “DNA” as much as it carries its own DNA. Adam was never intended to be a human being alone.

Adam was designed to be a living representative of God Himself on earth. Every offspring from this original design was intended to have the spirit of the living God entwined into their spirit. That intimate marriage of God's spirit with our own spirit, that is the catalyst to activate our souls and make it a living soul. Now our mind, emotions and will are drenched with what is important to God.

That is what we refer to as having the “mind of Christ”. Our views, our opinions and our judgments are no longer that of our sinful nature. We die to our old nature, so that we surrender to God's views, God's opinions and God's judgment. We come into alignment with Him, meaning we come into righteousness with God. Into right standing with God, and we call Him ‘Lord’ as we submit to His rulership over our lives.

Once this is restored, God places His name on us. Name meaning His character, His authority and His honor. This restored condition God calls a “son of God”. Someone that represents the Father. No longer his own will, his own desires, chasing his own dreams, but someone that chases after God's heart. We call it that condition — sonship.

Only once this restoration process is fully achieved can mankind exert dominion over God's creation. Not in our own power, but through Him that lives inside of us.
