My First Exodus companion guide

Open the storybook and read slowly. For toddlers, one picture and one short sentence is enough.
Ask one question
Let the child answer in their own words. A simple answer is still a real answer.
Talk about God
Name one thing God shows us on that page: He sees, He hears, He rescues, He provides, He stays near.
Colour quietly
Use the matching colouring page while you repeat the big truth and pray one short prayer.

God hears His people
God sees His children when life is hard, and He begins His rescue even before they understand it.
Questions
- How do you think God's people felt in Egypt?
- Who helped keep baby Moses safe?

Discussion point
Children need to know that God sees them when they feel small, scared, or stuck.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that You see us and hear us. Help us trust You when we feel small.

God calls Moses
God can use an ordinary person who feels nervous, weak, or not ready.

- What did Moses see at the burning bush?
- What did God ask Moses to do?
- Can God help us when we feel afraid?
Discussion point
Do not rush past Moses being afraid. It helps children learn that courage means obeying God with His help.
Prayer
Lord, help us listen when You speak and obey You even when we feel afraid.

God is stronger than Pharaoh
No king, problem, or power is bigger than God.

Keep this gentle for little children: the point is not fear of the plagues, but confidence that God can rescue.

God makes a way

This is the rescue moment. Let children feel the wonder: God did what nobody else could do.

For toddlers, the big truth is enough.
Exodus is a large story. Little children do not need every adult detail. They need the repeated shape of the story: God heard, God helped, God rescued, God stayed.
Ages 1–2
Point, name, repeat: “God helped Moses.” “God made a way.” “God was near.”
Ages 3–4
Ask what happened first, next, and last. Let them retell it while colouring.
Ages 5–6
Talk about fear, obedience, rescue, gratitude, and what it means to trust God.
Mixed ages
Let older children answer the deeper question after younger children answer the simple one.
